Now that the New Year is upon us, it’s time to make some smart moves to set yourself up to have the best year yet in 2015!
Below is a list to get you started:
1. Set goals.
Setting goals will give you direction and boost your confidence and motivation. Before you begin listing your goals, make sure they are S.M.A.R.T.
- Specific – Be specific and identify exactly what you want to achieve for your business this year.
- Measurable – If possible, try to quantify the result. You want to know exactly when you’ll hit your goal.
- Actionable – Start your goals with an action verb (e.g. “start”, “finish”, “attend” ) rather than a to-be verb (e.g. “am”, “be”, “have”).
- Realistic – Do not set yourself up for failure. Know what you can accomplish within the time frame you have given yourself.
- Time – Every goal needs an end date. When do you plan to deliver on your goal? A goal without a date is just a desire. Set a deadline for every goal.
2. Set the stage for growth.
Now that you know what your goals are, write them down. The next step is to create an action plan to develop them. Take this opportunity to talk to people in a position to help you. Reach out to your FSR and have them guide you through proven strategies to achieve the growth you are looking for.
3. Get your books in order.
Look over your expenses for the past year. It is time to evaluate your business expenses and opportunity costs. Perhaps one of your goals this coming year is to learn more about a program that you can offer your clients. The opportunity cost of time spent learning to be an informed educator for your clients can out weigh time spent away from your office.
Another thing to consider is software and technology. Are you paying for an outdated webpage? Allocate your expenses for 2015 to go towards an upgrade.
4. Review with your staff.
It is important to communicate your thoughts about growing your business to your staff. You have taken the time to reflect on your performance, challenges and accomplishments and it is important to share it with the people who are going to help you grow your business.
If you don’t have a staff, think again! We at LifePro are your back office and we want to hear about your plans and help you achieve your goals.
5. Evaluate your marketing strategy.
What did you do in 2014 that worked? Why did it work? What didn’t? If one of your goals is to reach the next level of performance by targeting a specific demographic, what is your plan to do so?
Start the New Year off fully prepared and confident. Reach out to your FSR today and they will work with you on developing a business plan and set goals with you. Throughout the year, we’ll monitor those goals and make sure everyone is accountable for their activities.
